A Little About This Site. So Glad You Found Us!

We have found that the simpler our lives are, the happier we become. Less is more. Not to say that we don’t work really hard to keep our lives as simple as possible! It takes work…and constant diligence. Like they say, “It may be simple, but it’s not easy”. Sometimes simple can be inconvenient but I think we are better humans because of it. We try to build everything in our lives from the ground up. Don’t buy it if you can build it, don’t let someone make your food in a factory if you can prepare it at home, and don’t let someone with poisonous farming practices grow food you can grow yourself. We are extremely fortunate to have the ability to try all of this. I say ‘try’ because that is the best we can ask for. We are by no means claiming to be anything other than practitioners of a simple life. We practice, sometimes we are successful, sometimes not so much. I always say “Let’s just do the best we can with what we have.” Sometimes that means going ‘mostly’ organic or ‘for the most part’ cooked from scratch. We do however always have fun. There is a good amount of goofing off around here amoungst all the ‘practicing’.  Some of the things you will eventually find here, if you stick around, are cooking, natural cleaning product, homemade hippy healthcare items, bushcrafty projects, gardening, essential oils, adventures on our tandem bike and prepping for the zombie apocalypse.

Here in the infancy of this web site, you will most likely find a LOT of pictures of our garden, dog and food. As we get going here, Sam and I are primarily interested in keeping a log of our daily shenanigans both in photos and text. We are working and learning (and starting new projects) almost everyday. It think it’s going to be an amazing thing for our future generations to look back on. Let’s face it, I’m sure my great grandkids are dying to know what I ate for dinner. Our secondary interest is keeping all you folks up to date about the goings on here at the homestead. It’s a place we hope our friends and family can share. As I slowly get the hang of all the admin tweeks I can make on the site, I’m hoping to have instructional videos or at least photos with instructions of the things some of you have already shown interest in like making laundry soap or yogurt (two totally different techniques hehe). Maybe someday we will even be able to offer items made under our Stan and Susan labels. Stan and Susan are our alter egos. They really just get us into trouble. They buy things like tequila and shot glasses. See? See where this is going?

I’m glad you came by to see what’s going on here.

I hope you come by often and stick it out through all the initial ‘learning curve’ posts. I promise at some point I will no longer post 5 pictures of my dog and 3 of whatever I pulled out of the garden that day. I also hope you will share your ideas and information with me and Sam. We are always trying to improve and explore.

Until then…..Take it simple

-Stacey
